Over the course of the next couple months, there will be the annual History Meets the Arts event in conjunction with the Gettysburg Festival, the annual Gettysburg Reenactment, and Bike Week. Not to mention the Boy Scout Jamboree will be held just south of Gettysburg at Fort A.P. Hill.

History Meets the Arts - Edible Art Tour!
|
Join the American Civil War Museum & Gettysburg Gift
Center Complex in welcoming five talented and diverse artists during the Annual
History Meets the Arts festival June 18 - 20, 2010!
The festival will kick off Friday, June 18 with an "Edible Art Tour". This ticketed event will combine original art with culinary art. Chefs from around the area will offer their finest dishes at each of the five galleries participating in the tour, including the Gettysburg Gift Center. The cost for the ticketed event is $35 per person and can be purchased by contacting the Gift Center directly at 717-334-6245. This is a unique opportunity to meet some of the most renowned artist from all over the world - all in one town!
The artists appearing at the complex may use different mediums, but each has one thing in Sculptor Andrew Chernak works on the "Gold Star Mother"
 | common - they strive to preserve history using their talents and expert skills. Each artist presents a piece of history in a unique way.
Appearing at the annual History Meets the Arts event are sculptor Andrew Chernak, artist Bradley Schmehl, artillerist George Funt, Victorian hair jeweler Lucy Cadwallader, and antique jewelery maker Rebecca Marie Schmehl. Each artist will be available at the American Civil War Museum Complex during the 'Edible Art Tour' to meet with visitors, showcase their work, and discuss recent projects.
Visitors will have a final opportunity to talk to the artist and discuss their work on Saturday, June 19th from 11 am - 4 pm at the complex.
In addition to the original artist featured at the museum
complex, there will be special appearances by authors and living history

Reenactment Tickets are now Available!
| Tickets for the 147th Annual Gettysburg Reenactment are now on sale. The event will take place July 2, 3, 4 & 5, 2010! Your ticket includes:

Enlist Now!
| Have you heard about the American Civil War Museum's newest hands-on, interactive program? You haven't! You don't know what you're missing!
When planning your visit to Gettysburg, make sure you plan on taking part in the Enlist Now! program. This is a unique opportunity to learn what life was like for a new recruit in the Union army. Each enlisted private will receive a kepi to wear during the program. It is your souvenir to take home from Gettysburg! The program is suitable for all ages! Perfect for families of all sizes, family reunions, group meetings and more!
The 1-hour long program will take place on five different Saturday evenings throughout the summer months - June 26, July 3, July 17, July 31, and August 7. The programs begin at 7 pm. Motorcycle Tours, Special Events - Gettysburg Bike Week! July 9 -11

Tour the Battlefield on your Motorcycle!  | Are you planning to attend Gettysburg's Annual Bike Week July 8-11? Would you like to tour the battlefield from the comfort of your own motorcycle? Do you belong to a group that is interested in touring the battlefield together? If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, then we can help you!
The American Civil War Museum Complex is now booking motorcycle tours of the battlefield for Saturday July 10. A Licensed Battlefield Guide will take you on a 2-hour tour, covering the three-day battle. You can book your tour for either 9 am or 10 am. The cost is $10 per person. Additional tours can be added to the schedule as needed.

Attention All Boy Scouts
|
The Boy Scouts of America are in the midst of a very exciting year. 2010 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, the Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill is quickly approaching! From July 26 - August 4, thousands of Boy Scouts from all over the country will converge for a week of leadership, scouting skills, learning, and more!
Our museum is the perfect destination for your boy scout troop! Here you will get a complete overview of the Civil War. As you walk through the museum you will learn about the major causes, personalities, and events of the war. The tour concludes with a digitally enhanced presentation that recreates Pickett's Charge. You will see and hear the Gettysburg Address delivered by our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln.
In addition to the museum, we offer COMPLIMENTARY living history encampments from April to November. We have a variety of different groups that set up camp and offer demonstrations at our complex. From Northern/Southern Civil War soldiers to the 82nd Airborne from World War II, there is always a group here to actively talk about our nation's military history.
