Greetings!
The summer months flew by so quickly, it left many people asking - where did the time go?  The kids are headed back to school, the leaves will soon turn to beautiful shades of brown, and the crisp autumn air will once again sweep through Gettysburg.  It is the perfect time of year to plan a trip to our historic town.  You'll find that the weather is perfect for hiking the battlefield, touring museums, and strolling through the streets of Gettysburg.  Whether you're looking for an extended stay or just a day trip, there are many special events taking place and special promotions throughout the entire town. 

The American Civil War Museum complex will have a number of events taking place over labor day weekend and throughout September.  We'll also be out in the community participating in other events such as the Wine and Music Festival!  Make sure you visit us online at www.GettysburgMuseum.com, you never know what we may have planned! Labor Day Weekend at the American Civil War Museum
We hold these truthsThe place to visit this labor day weekend is the American Civil War Museum complex!  The weekend will be filled with living history presentations, book signings, a World War II display
and a Civil War/World War II era church service Sunday morning! There is something for the entire family!  Take advantage of the three-day weekend and come be a part of history at the American Civil War Museum complex!

Saturday, September 5:

10 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Tami Rasel, author of "Spirits of Gettysburg"
12 p.m. - Lecture/Presentation by Randy DeSoto on his book "We Hold These Truths" (outside,tent)

4 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Bradley Gottfried, author of "Maps of Gettysburg", "The Maps of First Bull Run", "Stopping Pickett", and "The Battle of Gettysburg: A Guided Tour".

Living History Recruitment!
Living HistoryATTENTION ALL CIVIL WAR, WORLD WAR I, & WORLD WAR II REENACTORS!

The American Civil War Museum is now accepting applications for the 2010 Living History encampment program.  Each weekend from April until November we schedule a living history group to set up on the front lawn of the museum complex and offer visitors a glimpse of what camp life was like, the different aspects of war, drills, demonstrations including cooking and medicine, and much more.  We are looking for groups that interact well with visitors, and offer an authentic period camp set-up complete with tents. 

Here are a few of the requirements:

1. You must have a minimum of 10 people on site at all times. 
2. You must provide proof of insurance, and it must be up to date.
3. Camp times are the same as our operating hours.
4. Each group must create a schedule that includes demonstrations and drills.

Anyone who is interested, whether you have participated before or not, should contact the American Civil War Museum immediately for a 2010 application. You can email request to info@GettysburgMuseum.com.
Remembrance Day  - November 21-22
remembrance dayThe annual Remembrance Day observance will take place November 21 & 22.  The weekend will be full of special events, a parade, author appearances, living history presentations, and much more!  We are still working on a finalized schedule, but here are some tentative events and times!  Keep checking www.GettysburgMuseum.com for a complete list of events and appearances!
