146th Gettysburg Battle Reenactment - July 3 - 5!
Gettysburg reenactmentThe thunder of cannons and the cries of battle will once again be heard in Gettysburg.  July 3 - 5 marks the 146th Annual Gettysburg Battle Reenactment. This is the only battle reenactment that will take place in Gettysburg throughout the year.

Advanced tickets can be purchased by visiting www.gettysburgmuseum.com!  Orders placed by June 21 will be mailed to you.  Any orders after that date will be available for pick-up at our store upon your arrival to Gettysburg. 


All sales are final, no refunds will be given.  The event is held rain or shine.
*NEW* 20 pdr Parrott Cannon by Andrew Chernak!
20 pdr ParrottArtist, historian and sculptor Andrew Chernak will release his latest sculpture, a 20 pdr. Parrott cannon on July 4, 2009! This is the seventh cannon in his "Hear the Cannons Roar" series.  These large guns were used during the Battle of Gettysburg.  The Union had one battery of 20 pdr. Parrott cannons at the battle.  Tafts' 5th New York Artillery was posted near the front of the Cemetery gate house on Cemetery Hill, and another section of 2 guns were behind the gate house aiming at Oak Hill.  There were 4 on Baltimore St. firing at Benners Hill where the Confederates had a battalion of artillery posted.

Andrew Chernak will make a special appearance at the Gift Center complex on July 4, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. He will be available to meet with visitors, discuss his many projects, including the Gold Star Mother's Memorial, and sign sculptures.  Chernak's entire collection is available at the Gettysburg Gift Center.  Visit our online store at www.GettysburgMuseum.com to shop for Andrew Chernak pewter sculptures.
*NEW* General Robert E. Lee by Francis Barnum
RE Lee BustGeneral Robert E. Lee is one of the most notable generals in American history.  His dedication, humility, and wisdom surpassed most of his peers during the Civil War, and still many today.  Francis Barnum has captured the face of war in his newest release, General Robert E. Lee.  Scheduled to ship July 1, this unique sculpture is available at a preview price of $360 until July 5. After July 5, the price of the sculpture will be $450.

Living History Encampment and Presentation
front lawnThe American Civil War Museum complex offers visitors free living history encampments March through November. Each weekend a different group camps on the front lawn and presents life as a Union soldier, Confederate soldier, or Civilian. Typically groups provide demonstrations on weapons and firing, surgical procedures, cooking, drills, and much more. Visitors are encouraged to walk through the camp, and ask questions to the reenactors.  There are no battles that take place in the encampment. 

July 4th weekend the Civil War Heritage Foundation will set up Union and Confederate Camps and offer a full schedule of presentations.  Presentations will last approximately 20 minutes and will be held under the main presentation tent, unless otherwise noted. The schedule is subject to change, additions will be made as the event draws near. Visit our Living History page for an up to date schedule.
