A Little Irish...
Chernak Pewter SculpturesSt. Patrick's Day always makes everyone feel a little Irish!  The involvement and importance of Irish-Americans during the Civil War has not gone unnoticed.  The North and the South both had Irish soldiers among their ranks, and on the battlefield.  The Gettysburg Gift Center has a large selection of Irish-related gifts, collectibles and apparel to choose from!

Father Corby by SchmehlOne of the most noted Irish figures during the Battle of Gettysburg, and throughout the Civil War was Father Corby.  Chaplain of the Irish Brigade, Father Corby is most remembered for granting the catholic members of the brigade absolution just before they advanced to the Wheatfield on the afternoon of July 2, 1863.  A remarkable sight, nearly 300 men kneeling before him as he offered prayer from a large boulder in the middle of the battlefield. This scene has been captured by two of the Gettysburg Gift Center's premier artist.  Andrew Chernak's pewter sculpture "Father Corby" (above - $79) is one of three Irish Brigade sculptures he has created in his Civil War collection. Renowned artist Bradley Schmehl's canvas vignette "Father Corby" (right - $95) brings the event to life with color and realism.

Irish t-shirtShow your Irish colors by wearing a 69th Regiment Irish Brigade t-shirt!  Or fly a Son's of Erin Flag at your home!  The Gift Center also has pins, jewelry, and accessories with a touch of Irish!  Known for one of the largest collections of books in Gettysburg, there are plenty of Irish-based books available!  No matter what you're looking for, we can help you with all your shopping needs!
