"Can you Adopt an Intern"?

Dear Colleague,

The Centre for Scotish Public Policy (CSPP) is in the throes of putting together a proposal to the Scottish Government for the creation of a cross-sector Internship Programme for Scotland's unemployed graduates. It follows the birth of a new partnership with the University of Glasgow where we offer two internships each academic term to students from the faculty of Law, Business & Social Science.  Could you support an intern?

The need for such a programme cannot be understated with youth unemployment in Scotland reaching its highest level since devolution, and has risen 75 per cent in just two years.  This programme would offer hope to dispirited graduates and provide skilled labour during recruitment freezes.

The internship programme would be run by the Centre with funding and support from the Scottish Government and other interested parties. We plan to set up a flexible infrastructure to facilitate the process of putting work opportunities/internships in front of Scottish students and graduates.

To support this proposal it is vital that we know how many of our members/colleagues would be able and willing to support an intern for, initially, three months (any salary would be negotiable but expenses should be covered).

Please reply by return to confirm your company/organisation's interest.

Yours sincerely,

Ross Martin
Policy Director
