The judges for this year's competition met on Saturday, November 12th at The CARA Group offices to review the new forms for the competition and to gather their assigned entries. The judges were quite excited about the event, both for the entries in their packets and the opportunity to work together. Each team received six entries for evaluation over a two-month period.

We received entries in every category this year -- Informational, Instructional, Promotional, and User Support Materials. Media for the entries included printed documentation, posters, and websites.

The STC Chicago Nominating Committee is in the process of identifying potential candidates for the offices of vice president, secretary, and treasurer for the spring 2012 chapter elections.

The secretary and treasurer will serve one-year terms starting in July 2012 and may serve more than one consecutive one-year term at any time. The vice president will serve a one-year term starting in July 2012 before becoming president for the year starting in July 2013 (followed by a year as immediate past president). The president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and immediate past president are all voting members of the chapter's Administrative Council.

In addition, the Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for two elected positions on the Nominating Committee, each to serve a two-year term starting in July 2012, as well as for a one-year vacancy starting at the same time (created by changes in the chapter bylaws that were approved several years ago). The committee identifies candidates for chapter offices and conducts annual chapter elections. The committee manager (not one of the elected members) is appointed by the chapter president.

Candidates for all elected positions must be chapter members in good standing at the time of the spring 2012 elections. If you or someone you know is interested in any of these positions, please contact the committee at nominating@stc-chicago.org.­

STC's 2012 Membership Drive continues through December 31st, when annual memberships for 2011 will expire. STC dues for 2012 are unchanged from 2010 and 2011, and chapter membership is included by default.

This year's drive includes a Member-Get-a-Member Campaign. If you refer a new member to STC, you get $10 off your dues (when the new member joins) for each member you recruit, up to five members. This could reduce your dues by up to $50 for the year.
