If you are new to our community, you'll want to learn more about this popular event. Each month, fellow technical communicators gather for lunch at a variety of locations in the Chicago metro area. These informal gatherings take place on the first Thursday of each month -- even during the summer. Join in on the fun! Chapter Meeting
Annual Business Meeting and Networking Event
You're invited to join STC Chicago members on Tuesday, June 14, for our community's Annual Business Meeting and Networking Event.
We are gathering again this year for the official "passing of the gavel" from this year's president to the incoming president. Come out and meet our chapter's newly elected officers and committee members. Learn how you can become more involved in our community and share in the decisions that shape our chapter.
We'll also discuss the 2011 Summit in Sacramento and look ahead to next year, when our community will serve as host chapter for the 2012 Technical Communication Summit. This event is free to all, but please let us know you plan on being there. Sign up at our registration page. Time 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

STC Chicago Wins Summit Awards
You are a member of an award-winning community!
STC Chicago was named 2010 STC Community of Distinction at the TechComm Summit in Sacramento. This is the fourth time in recent history that our community has been earned the award of Distinction. The citation on our award reads:
For continued excellence in member services, an outstanding e-Learning & Technology Showcase, and a camaraderie that is 'priceless.'
STC Chicago also received the Community of the Year award. Our community is the first to received this new award, which is a distinction in and of itself. The Community of the Year recipient is the community with the highest score of all of all outstanding Communities of Distinction. Congratulations to all!

Associate Fellows Honored at Summit
Congratulations to longtime STC Chicago member Chris Hester, who recently joined the 2011 Class of STC Associate Fellows. Her achievements were recognized at the STC Honors Banquet on Tuesday, May 17. Way to go, Chris! The citation on her award reads:
Chris Hester For innovative and passionate professional explorations, for devoting time and attention to helping professional, academic, and social communities be successful, and for motivating others to grow their own ideas.

STC Chicago to Host 2012 Summit
As you may know, next year's TechComm Summit takes place in Rosemont, Illinois. Planning is already underway at STC Chicago for this important event. For those of you who are new to the region, Rosemont is a mere 20-minute drive from the Chicago Loop. Public transportation is readily available. All events will take place at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare.
If you would like to be a volunteer at the 2012 Summit or if you have questions, please contact STC Chicago's Summit Host Committee at stc2012@stc-chicago.org.
