Meeting Tues May 29

Hi Folks!

I'm writing this in Skagway, Alaska in a camera/internet store. We've just done an informal tour of the village lead by Ozzie Jurock's son Mark Jurock. He's an experienced cruiser and has been very helpful and amusing on this Alaskan Cruise.

In Skagway, the seasonal housing burned down about a month ago so all the itinerant workers have no place to live. Anybody got a bunch of ATCO trailers and a place to put 'em? Apparently they'll pay up to $1,200/mo. for a 1 bedroom suite.

We'll be back on May  26 and so this is being written early and will automagically publish itself on Friday while we're still floating along.

Our next meeting features Denise Andison (my spouse) educating us on maximizing the selling price of our fix-n-flips by designing it's look and feel, especially the kitchen and bath, so that buyers get wowed and pay the price we want (see artcle below). As Denise was a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer with the National Kitchen and Bath Association, this will be excellent training.

I'm gonna get back to the ship now so this is a short newsletter. See you on the 29th!

Topic: Fix and Flip - Design It For More Dollars  

Speaker: Denise Andison  

  

Denise Andison, co-founder of the Victoria Real Estate Investors Club, also happens to be a Kitchen and Bath Designer. She also has a very good grasp on how to use colours, materials, etc to affect curb appeal and first impressions of properties. She's been designing her own properties for 15 years.

Her talk will get us started in the right direction when we're deciding how to make our fix-n-flip stand out amongst all those other properties for sale.

 

She will go over:

 

- Kitchens and Baths - simple, inexpensive and pleasing design strategies

- First impressions - going thru the front door and down the hall - wall and trim colours, front door design

- Curb Appeal - when they first look at the house - using the building's shape, colour and trim effectively

 

She will also hand out a simple list of effective tips you can use when deciding what you can do to a property you're looking at or have acquired to fix up and re-sell.
