| World-famous investor to speak at June Entrepreneurs' Conference | |
New location for Entrepreneurs' Conference:

Dave Berkus, past chairman of California's Tech Coast Angels and one of the nation's most prolific angel investors, will speak and host a workshop at the June 8-9, 2010 Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Conference in Milwaukee.
Berkus will speak on "Dominant trends in technology: A short history of our future" at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 at the Pfister Hotel, downtown Milwaukee.
Berkus will also conduct a limited-seat workshop for entrepreneurs from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets for the workshop are limited and will be sold to conference attendees only on a first-come basis.

The conference is one of the Midwest's premier networking and hands-on events for entrepreneurs. It is where the statewide Governor's Business Plan Contest culminates with presentations by the top dozen plans and the selection of winners. It's also where we announce our annual "Seize the Day" award, which goes to someone who has demonstrated entrepreneurial persistence in the face of obstacles. The conference will include nationally recognized keynote speakers, hands-on panel discussions and dozens of exhibits; and a wealth of networking opportunities.

| Wisconsin delegation strong at 2010 BIO Convention | | State pavilion, events captured attention
More than 50 companies, research institutions and other representatives of Wisconsin's biotech economy took part in this year's BIO convention in Chicago.

'Diligent Dozen' soon to advance in Gov's Business Plan Contest | |

The Top 12 of the 25 final contestants who submitted a 20-page business plan in Phase 3 of the Governor's Business Plan Contest will advance to the final round of the competition.
The 25 business plans are being judged by an independent panel of 79 judges organized through the Wisconsin Technology Council, which is producing the contest in conjunction with its membership subsidiary, the Wisconsin Innovation Network, the Wisconsin Angel Network and other statewide affiliates. The contest began with nearly 300 entries in late January.
The 'Diligent Dozen' who come out on top will compete live for the $50,00 grand prize with a seven-minute presentation at the Entrepreneurs' Conference in Milwaukee on June 8. Cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded June 9 over the conference luncheon honoring finalists and sponsors.

Tech Council praises signing of Senate Bill 409 -- 'CORE' jobs act | |
The signing of Senate Bill 409 by Gov. Jim Doyle in Green Bay represents another important step forward for Wisconsin's high-tech economy, leaders of the Wisconsin Technology Council said Monday.
The bill will expand existing angel investment and early stage seed investment tax credits, create a post-secondary education tax credit for businesses, support technology transfer efforts throughout the University of Wisconsin System, provide incentives to attract tech-related businesses to rural Wisconsin and more. Health reform offers tax credits and grants to biotech industry | |
The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly referred to as the Health Reform Bill) has created a program of tax credits and tax-free grants to qualifying biotech firms. Read more here. |
