Inside Wisconsin columns tackle state, tech issues

 Inside Wisconsin

Tech Council President Tom Still shares insights on technology, the economy and politics though Inside Wisconsin. Here are some recent releases:

Why high-speed rail decision is a victory for Wisconsin and the I-Q Corridor:  Since the 1960s, Wisconsin has largely stood by while other states aggressively competed for their fair share of federal grants and aid. That bottom-quartile performance among the 50 states is why Wisconsin has long been known as a "tax donor" state, meaning its taxpayers contribute far more to the feds than they get in return...Read more

Technology has made it easier to donate after a disaster - and more efficient: Record-breaking numbers of people have text-messaged $10 pledges to the American Red Cross to help the relief effort in Haiti. Companies and other large groups have coordinated sophisticated deliveries of cash, goods, equipment and even volunteers through the Internet, also to help that earthquake-ravaged nation...Read more

Attracting more venture capital is priority for Wisconsin:
Wisconsin entrepreneurs and researchers do a world-class job of coming up with ideas that will transform health care, energy, manufacturing and other industries. Finding the investors who can move those ideas forward is too often the problem...Read more
