The Entrepreneurs' Conference is one of the Midwest's premier networking and hands-on events for entrepreneurs. Business leaders, investors and others made connections as they learn how to crack into today's emerging markets.
This year's theme is Refining the Dream, Building the Team, Making the Green.

| Dane County YES! youth business plan contest advances to Phase 2 |

Twenty semi-finalists from Dane County are competing in Phase 2 of the first Dane County YES! (Youth Entrepreneurs in Science) youth business plan contest.
The semi-finalists are made up of public, private and home schooled students throughout Dane County's 16 school districts. Contestants recently went through an entrepreneurial "boot camp" and heard from entrepreneurs Dale Beermann of Sharendipity.com and Ian Gurfield of Ian's Pizza.

* The Tech Council co-hosted Project Lead the Way day in the Capitol. Students from 20 middle and high schools throughout Wisconsin presented their science and technology projects.
* The Tech Council recently issued a report on science, technology, engineering and math education. The report is called Educating a Tech-Savvy Workforce in Wisconsin. The report outlines a list of recommendations to help Wisconsin educate a workforce equipped to compete in the 21st century "Knowledge Economy." Click here to learn more.

Excerpts from recent Tech Council report Educating a Tech-Savvy Workforce in Wisconsin
Wisconsin ranks high for bachelor's degrees produced, 15th in the nation, it ranks in the bottom 10 states in attracting and retaining people with bachelor's degrees.
Wisconsin ranks fourth in the nation for the highest number of participants in Project Lead the Way. In 2008, more than 20,210 students from more than 160 schools in Wisconsin were enrolled in the program.
