Once again welcome
It has been an exciting time for me, starting to
research and collate my inspirational role models. Not
all of whom, I hasten to add, are women. Currently I’m
interested in women fliers (wonder why?) and would
be grateful for any contributions from my readership.
Please also remember, if you click on the link below to
forward my newsletter to a friend or colleague, you get
3 results:
you do a friend a favor;
you increase my audience;
you help me to widen the net of people who can
contribute role models.
The current hunt is on for pilots, divers and
photographers.
I find myself being drawn more and more to woman
pilots: I guess its living out my metaphor.
I assume that most of my Australian readers will have
heard of Janine Shepherd, but I wonder if she is as
well know in Europe?
Her film was released to Australian national
television, but
unlike Shine and My Left Foot not
really shown
overseas...

Janine Shepherd
Determination, tenacity, focus, but above all a belief in
the value of the people around you. The people who
inspire you and who you inspire. The values of love
and friendship.
In training for the Calgary Winter Olympics, as a cross
country skier, Janine was determined "to put Australia
on the map." So she was already incredibly fit,
focused and determined. And these qualities helped
her to survive a most horrific accident. She was hit by
a truck and amongst the appalling injuries, her spine
was broken in over four places and she lost 5 litres of
blood, but she had the resources to survive.
She was not expected to live the night. She was told
she would never walk again. She would not have a
sex life or have children.

Janine's Story Cont'd
During a long period of recovery Janine looked up at a
passing plane and thought If I can’t walk then I’ll
fly.
Not only did she gain her pilot’s license she is now
an instructor!
Later she learnt to ride and takes part (and wins
award) in dressage for riders with disabilities, acting
yet again as a role model for people with
disabilities.
She met her husband while flying, as he is a Quantas
pilot.
When she told him she would be unable to have
children. He said "There’s only one way to find out."
Hence the title of her book "Never tell me
never."
Pilot, wife and mother of 3 children, rider and even a
runner with the Olympic torch in 2000, it comes
as no surprise that she is an inspirational speaker,
much in demand.
But I find the over-riding quality is her belief in love and
friendship... When you face a challenge, large or
small, this is when you find out what you’re made of
and who your friends are. She said the people she
inspired, in turn inspired her, a truly NLP approach to
living your life.

Farewell : an end to December and an end to the old
year!
This month's NLP pre-supposition is:
"We already have all the resources we need OR we
can create them."
And my best wishes to you for the festive season.
But for the new year, a great time for coaches and for
goal setting.
May I wish that all your plans and dreams and hopes
for the New Year come true.
And to that end, the first 5 readers to email me will win
a half hour coaching session to make goals for the
new year.
