Greetings!

We are welcoming two new staff members at ONE this month, and saying farewell to two former staff.  We are proud to introduce Alex Gersh as our new Office Specialist and Ellen Krout-Hasegawa as our new Gallery Staff.  Alex and Ellen are both very well qualified and ready to provide you with excellent service.  Please join us in welcoming them to ONE!

Our former Office Specialist, Johanna Michael, and our former Gallery Docent, Lauren O'Connell, are both continuing their academic pursuits.  Lauren will be completing her degree program to become a therapist and Johanna will begin her first year of law school next month.  We wish them the best in their future endeavours.

Please read on to find out about the exciting upcoming events and more news at ONE.

Let's Get Technical
by Carol Grosvenor, Treasurer

TechnologyThe David Bohnett Foundation has provided ONE Archives with funds to improve access to ONE's collections through the use of technology.  Today, the Collections Search function on www.ONEarchives.org is faster, contains more information and even has some images in the Art, Posters and Museum Objects area.  ONE's past newsletters are available online and the organizations that financially support ONE Archives are prominently displayed on the home page.  There are more historical entries on the www.LGBThistory.org Timeline and this site is faster, too. You can find the details about events and exhibits at ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives and ONE Archives Gallery & Museum through Facebook and MySpace technology. When researchers visit the main archives location on Adams Blvd. in Los Angeles, they can use two new computer systems to access detail collection information.  Thank you to The David Bohnett Foundation for helping to make all these technical changes at ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives.
Bob Mitchell: Mourning a Los Angeles Icon
Bob Mitchell
Bob Mitchell, a lifetime Angelino passed away this month.  Mr. Mitchell was involved with ONE from the organization's earliest years, working with Dorr Legg, Don Slater and Jim Kepner early in the 1950s.  He remained active in ONE and eventually went on to serve on the board.  Mr. Mitchell managed the Robert Mitchell Boys Choir for sixty years, which performed in over 100 films, including "Going My Way," "White Christmas," and "Angels with Dirty Faces."  Mitchell will be missed dearly, but his legacy will live on.
