Seeking Host Event Committee Members
Penticton is proud to be hosting delegates from cities and town all across the province for the 2012 BC Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting May 23 - 26, 2012. The Penticton Chamber will be responsible for organizing a Friday dinner and fun evening! We are seeking a 'few good members' to sit on the Host Event Committee, chaired by current Chamber President Jason Cox. The first meeting of the committee will be on February 1st at Bayleys BrewHaHa at 12 Noon. If you are interested in lending your talents and energy to make this event a long-lasting fun memory for all attending, please contact Lisa at 250.492.4103.
Notice of Annual General Meeting and Chamber Board Nominations
With the adoption of our new corporate bylaws annual general meetings are to be held once each calendar year, within the first three months following the last day of the Chamber's fiscal year. The 2011 Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Ramada Inn & Suites from 5:00p to 7:00p. In accordance with the new bylaws, this year the Chamber will be seeking nominations for one-year terms for all 14 director positions. The nomination form can be found on our homepage www.penticton.org . If you are interested in joining our team of Directors, please complete the form and email it to admin@penticton.org along with a small jpeg image of yourself and a short candidate biography describing your experience and suitability for this position. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 1st.
City of Penticton Building Department Open House
The City of Penticton is hosting a Building Department Open House on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 12 pm to 1:30 pm at Council Chambers, City Hall, 2nd floor. Designers, builders, trades people, developers and others related to the construction industry should attend to learn about new initiatives and requirements for Building and Plumbing Permits. The session will provide an overview of a number of items pertaining to the application, review process and inspections for new, additions and renovation permits for single family projects. City staff has prepared a number of new initiatives, applications and handouts that are open for discussion. A question and answer period will be included. Lunch and refreshments will be served. City of Penticton Purchasing Policy Change
At their last meeting, City Council endorsed a revision of its purchasing policy allowing staff to purchase used or demonstrator equipment for items authorized in the 2012 budget. If you are interested in knowing more, or have an item you wish to sell check out the City of Penticton website for budget information or call the Purchasing Department at 250.490.2555 open 7:30a to 3:30p, Monday through Friday.
