Tour Packages
Tour packages are not only a tourist's best friend, they offer local business operators new opportunities to develop exciting partnerships, build on their existing customer base and expand their marketing capacity. According to Penticton Visitor Centre supervisor Aaron McRann, today's visitors are asking for more of the tours that make it easy for them to experience all Penticton has to offer. Today's discerning tourist likes the convenience of having someone else organize an outing in their area of interest and the security and social aspects of being with a group. "Packaged tours are the way we're moving because of the demographic we're attracting," McRann said. "For example, we have one local tour company that picks people up at set times and takes them for a tour of several wineries, before dropping them off at a beach in Naramata, where they hop on the Casabella Princess for a dinner cruise back to Penticton." Tour packages can offer a snapshot of what a community has to offer or cater to specific interests or themes. While visitors could see the same sights on their own, many opt for packaged tours where they're available so they don't have to spend time researching stops of interest or worrying about getting lost. PENTICTON RESIDENT ELECTED DIRECTOR OF BC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Penticton resident Dan Albas, was elected to the post of Director at Large of the BC Chamber of Commerce, at the Chamber's 56th Annual General Meeting and Conference in Whistler on Saturday. In this capacity, Albas will be representing the BC Chamber of Commerce to the entire province. Albas is also the owner and general manager of Premier Martial Arts in Penticton, where he has been teaching a unique blend of self protection, health and leadership for over ten years.
GROWING CHAMPIONS
The BC Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Growing Champions to support local high-performance athletes.
Growing Champions is an innovative financial assistance program connecting businesses with athletes in their community or favourite sport.
Growing Champions has identified over 1,000 of BC's "next generation" of national team athletes who are currently living and training in communities all over BC. Many of these athletes still rely on "Bank of Mom and Dad" to fund their development, even though they are already competing in national and international competitions. These athletes often miss out on valuable training and competition experiences because they cannot afford the associated costs.
Businesses can support an athlete from their local community and help them reach a higher level of performance. They can incorporate their involvement into their marketing efforts and demonstrate a commitment to community involvement.
