Post-Camp Greeting
Thank you for opening and reading this issue of the Pipeline, Camp Tawonga's online newsletter.  While this Pipeline is not surrounded by forest and does not end at the Middle Fork of the Tuolumne River, it will keep you up to date today and throughout the year on Camp's behind the scenes happenings.  We will also bring you news about the larger community.

With the summer now past and just a few fall programs still on our schedule, we are already preparing for next summer.  Based on feedback from summer campers and their parents, as well as from family camp
participants, we are planning new programs including expanded teen programming during the summer and year-round beginning in October.  We are also planning several capital improvements that will make Camp an even more physically comfortable place to be.  We will be sharing more news about these efforts soon and look forward to your interest and input.

The summer was fun, inspiring and transformational for campers and staff alike.  And we hope for parents as well.  These words from participants and staff capture what a Tawonga experience means to so many of us.

"Camp Tawonga is one of the most amazing places that I have ever been to. It's like a perfect community that you get to live in for 3 weeks. To me it is one of the best places on Earth!" - From a 2009 Camper

"My kids LOVE this place. I am watching their identities in the world grow and Tawonga is a definite part of that. It is like it lives inside of them! The impact and value have to do with: building a positive Jewish identity, learning tikkun olam, becoming confident in nature, enjoying nature, building friendships at camp that are intense and enjoyable. I truly believe my kids would be different people without Camp Tawonga in terms of how they see themselves and who they are." - From a 2009 Parent

"Working at Tawonga is the best of both worlds.   Each summer I've experienced a supportive, encouraging professional environment as well as a welcoming, caring community." - From a 2009 staff member

All the best for a great fall and a sweet new year.
Help Camp Tawonga by Giving Your Feedback
The Foundation for Jewish Camp, an agency that supporBoys potteryts Jewish summer camps throughout the US and Canada, is conducting a survey of Jewish resident camps and their participants. By gathering information about programs, staff, and the social and emotional environment at camp, the FJC hopes to provide camps with specific feedback and show how each camp compares to other Jewish camps nationally.

The survey is for families who participated in Camp Tawonga summer programs in 2009. Please note that this survey is different than the Parent and Camper surveys you may have completed at the end of your child's session.

By participating in the Foundation's survey, you will be doing Tawonga a great service. Thank you in advance for your participation. Please complete the survey by September 8th, 2009.

Tawonga in Your Neck of the Woods
Create A Tawonga Havurah Group in your community
"Havurah" means circle of friends in Hebrew and we'd like to give you the opportunity to build a circle of friends with a Tawonga backbone. Gather friends, family, and community members as a group that meets regularly to converse, learn, celebrate, travel, or whatever else you're moved to do!  You form the group, and we'll provide you with Tawonga materials (Shabbat blessings, song sheets, games, etc.) and connections to the larger Tawonga community (workshop leaders, staff, etc.) to get you started.

Contact Ryley (ryley@tawonga.org, 415.543.2267 ext. 114) to discuss details.

Host an Information Session in your living room

Feel like you'd be a walking brochure for Camp Tawonga if only you had more information at your finger tips? Do you know families in your neighborhood, school, extended family, or community who would want to learn more about camp?

Each year, campers tell us that Camp Tawonga is their home away from home. This year, we'd like to bring Camp Tawonga to your home!

How it works: Bring five families or more to your home for a Tawonga presentation/meet and greet and and we'll send a director or other year-round staff member to your house to help introduce your friends to the magic of Camp Tawonga.

Contact Ryley (ryley@tawonga.org, 415.543.2267 ext. 114) to discuss details and dates.
