We hope to see you!

Greetings!

Hello fellow practitioners! We hope the month of August went well for you! We have been receiving great feedback and great questions.  Thank you, we appreciate it!

This month, in our clinical application section, we share a strategy to enhance the elastic recoiling needed for optimal movement transformation. In addition, a fellow practitioner was nice enough to ask questions regarding bone broth, which for connective tissue injury, recovery, and overall health is probably one of the most important daily ingredients a person can consume. We hope you find it informative.

Please check out our upcoming events at www.grayinstitute.com.  If you want to host an FSTT course at your facility, please contact Keith Bozyk at KBozyk@grayinstitute.com .

If you have any questions or just want to share ideas for an upcoming newsletter topic, please email Lenny at lparracino@gmail.com . Thank you!

Clinical Application

As practitioners of movement therapy, we've all come across the client with recurrent complaints in various body regions. Interestingly, many clients (and therapists) will assume it's their musculature that is of primary insult. This may be because segmented muscle anatomy is the way we have traditionally learned to navigate and label the body.   It is now known that very often it's not the muscle(s), nor the skeleton, that is of primary insult.  Instead, it is the structure of the connective tissue; ligaments, tendons, joint capsules - the fascial network (Counsel & Briedahl 2010, Mackey et. al. 2008, Hyman and Rodeo 2000, Renstrom & Johnson 1985). When the connective tissues are loaded BEYOND their adaptive capability, there is a disruption of unity = injury. Therefore, proper rehabilitation and follow-up conditioning is critical to prevent re-occurring injury and/or compensation. This video will share fundamental concepts to apply in your practice that help to enhance efficient elastic recoiling.

Questions/Research/Information

Question: What am I getting nutritionally from bone broth that was mentioned in the FSTT class and what does it offer that other soups, store bought do not?

Answer: Great question! Connective tissue needs daily nourishment to heal, remodel, and build. Bone broths provide plentiful and easily absorbed minerals - macrominerals such just calcium, magnesium, silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus, and also very critical trace minerals.  This treasure of minerals becomes even more important today because our soil is  becoming so depleted from commercial farming methods.   Analysis of bone broths has shown that stock also supplies the biomolecules, glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate, from broken down cartilage and tendons. These very special molecules aid in healthy and pain-free maintenance of joints in the body. In addition, bone broths supply natural gelatin to the diet which is vitally important to many tissues of the body including, of course, cartilage, bones, and joints, but also the skin, digestive tract, and muscles.

STORE bought broths, stocks, and soups are loaded with neurotoxic MSG and artificial flavors.  They really don't have much nutritional benefit at all.  For those desiring to eat wholesome nutritious soups, sauces, and gravies at home, you absolutely need to learn how to make real bone broth. Now, if you are concerned that this will require you to be "slaving" over the stove, fear not.  We have provided you with an easy way to make bone broth right here...
