Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Essay Contest!

Fact: The ASCC Senate handles a budget of approximately $485,000. that comes from three accounts:
ASCC Operating Fund
- The money for this fund is generated by the sales of the Student Activity Card (SAC), vending machine commissions and contributions from the bookstore.
- This year the fund holds approximately $230,000.
- These funds support student services, clubs, cultural events, college-wide support grants, textbook support grants and many other services.
Student Representation Fee
- Every student attending Cabrillo is charged $1 per semester for the Representation Fee.
- This fund, which typically has around $30,000, goes solely towards the purpose of providing training for student representatives and the cost incurred for them to advocate for students' rights.
Student Center Fee
- In addition to the Student Representative Fee, each student attending Cabrillo pays an additional $1 per unit taken, with the maximum amount of $5 per semester and $10 per academic year.
- This fee funds the maintenance and operations costs of SAC East, the cafeteria, Watsonville Center Lobby, and this year has a budget of $225,000.
To get involved in student government and give your feedback on how these funds are spent, join the Student Senate every Thursday at 3 pm in SAC East, room 225, and voice your opinion during the public comments section at the beginning of the meeting.
