Don Grabert, senior religion teacher, was named the Brother Linus Teacher of the Year for the 2010-2011 school year.  The award recognizes an educator who teaches in the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart by setting clear, high, worthy, and profound expectations for himself and his students.  Faculty members select the recipient of the award annually.  In order to be considered, an educator must have taught at E. D. White for five years and must teach at least three classes. 

Grabert has been a member of the EDW faculty for 27 years.  He also serves as the coach for the boys and girls cross country teams, the girls soccer team, and the boys track team.  Mary Cavell, a member of the EDW faculty, stated, "Don personifies the true meaning of a Catholic educator and coach.  Don selflessly gives of himself, as our Catholic faith calls us to, through his time, talent, and treasure.  He trusted the Lord to use him as an instrument.  He has had a profound impact on the spirituality of all of the students who have passed through his classes and have played for him in the athletic arena.  He is an inspiration and a wonderful role model of what it is to live as a true Christian."

Congratulations to the Concert Band and the Symphonic Band.  Both bands received a Sweepstakes trophy at the State Festival in Lake Charles on Thursday, May 5, which means that they received superior ratings from all judges.  This is the first time in the school's history that two bands from E. D. White have earned a Sweepstakes trophy at the State Festival in the same year.

The annual E. D.
