Louisiana's Homecoming Queen
Jessica Cedotal, a senior at E. D. White Catholic High School and the daughter of Scott and Jenny Cedotal of Napoleonville, has been crowned Louisiana's Homecoming Queen.
Jessica competed in Louisiana's Homecoming Queen Pageant on March 26th and 27th in Jackson, Mississippi, and was awarded a cash scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to the National Finals in California, where she will compete against 49 other contestants for the title of "America's Homecoming Queen" in July. The pageant competition consisted of a personal interview, evening gown competition, an essay, and a final question. She became eligible for the pageant after being elected homecoming queen at E. D. White. Approximately ten percent of the applicants are selected to participate at the state level.
America's Homecoming Queen, Inc. is a non-profit organization promoting education and community service for high school homecoming queens in all fifty states. The pageant requires contestants to have a minimum 3.75 grade point average, be engaged in at least one leadership activity, and be enrolled in or have completed three honors classes.
Cedotal said she applied for the pageant for the scholarship opportunities, as well as the experience. She plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in Communicative Disorders and Psychology. |
