The E. D. White Alumni Association sponsored the Grandmother/Mother/Daughter Breakfast honoring the ladies of the Class of 2011 on Sunday, March 27^th.  Dr. Amy Roundtree Ashton '96, who practices obstetrics & gynecology in Houma and Thibodaux, was the guest speaker.  She spoke about the benefits of her E. D. White education.  Amy told the girls that she gained confidence in herself by working hard in the classroom and in athletic endeavors.  When she attended college, she had a "one-up" on others because of the academic background that she received as a student at E. D. White.  Most importantly, Amy remains active in her faith life.  She encouraged the girls to continue to hold true to the values learned at E. D. White after they graduate.  She stated, " E. D. White

gave me a good foundation on which to build my life." 

Danielle Perque, a senior at E. D. White, was selected to be a counselor at the annual LASC (Louisiana Association of Student Council) junior high and senior high summer workshops, which will be held at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA.  She will join a staff of approximately 90 members.   The workshops are designed to teach junior high and senior high Student Council officers the following:  leadership and meeting skills, communication skills, group dynamics techniques, officer training, faculty-student relation ideas, and team building sessions.

Danielle was selected based on an application which required two letters of recommendation, a résumé, and an essay titled "What I Have to Offer as a Staff Member."  Danielle currently serves as the vice-president of the E. D. White Catholic High School Student Council.

Congratulations to Alyssa Cruse who has been selected to perform with the MENC All Star National Honor Band.  She will perform with this National Honor Band this summer in Washington, D.C.

Sr. Barbara Nell Laperouse, O.Carm will offer a Morning of Prayer on Saturday, April 16th from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in the E. D. White chapel. Coffee and juice will be available in the student union at 8:45 A.M.   The talks will focus on Prayer as Presence to God in our Everyday Life.  We will reflect on experiencing God within our relationships to family, our work situation, and in our own persons.  If you are interested in attending, please email Sister Barbara Nell at blaperouse@bellsouth.net so that sufficient handouts will be available. 

The 6^th Annual Bayou Region CardDraft, a silent and live auction for E. D. White Catholic High School, will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011.  We are looking for corporate sponsorships ($500) and donations from our alumni.  Items donated in the past were restaurant certificates, tickets to sporting events, hunting and fishing trips, and use of vacation homes.  These items are very popular and generate high bidding.  You may have connections in your city in acquiring such items.
