Academic Team Wins ChampionshipAcademic Team

The 2010-2011 Junior High Academic Team accomplished a rare feat this year:  the team reached and captured the championship despite having to play through the elimination bracket of the tournament.  Having suffered a loss earlier in the season to the junior high team from Vandebilt, the EDW team vindicated itself by first defeating Evergreen Junior High and then defeating Vandebilt twice to win the championship trophy.

The team competed against other junior high teams from the tri-parish area in the South Louisiana Quiz Bowl Tournament sponsored by KWBJ-TV 22 in Morgan City.

Members of the team are shown with their moderator, Mrs. Ruth Thibodeaux, and they include the following eighth graders (from left): Jean-Paul Guidry, Tessa LaFleur, Cameron Belding (captain), Jacob Cortez, Brennan Thibodeaux, and Christopher Rodriguez.

Morning of Prayer

Sr. Barbara Nell Laperouse, O.Carm will offer a Morning of Prayer on Saturday, April 16th from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in the E. D. White chapel. Coffee and juice will be available in the student union at 8:45 A.M.   The talks will focus on Prayer as Presence to God in our Everyday Life.  We will reflect on experiencing God within our relationships to family, our work situation, and in our own persons.  If you are interested in attending, please email Sister Barbara Nell at blaperouse@bellsouth.net so that sufficient handouts will be available.

CardDraft

The 6th Annual Bayou Region CardDraft, a silent and live auction for E. D. White Catholic High School, will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011.  We are looking for corporate sponsorships ($500) and donations from our alumni.  Items donated in the past were restaurant certificates, tickets to sporting events, hunting and fishing trips, and use of vacation homes.  These items are very popular and generate high bidding.  You may have connections in your city in acquiring such items.

Please contact Jane Bourgeois at 985-449-1859 or edwalumni@htdiocese.org if you can help.

Please call the advancement office at 985-449-1859 if we can be of assistance to you in any way.

Sincerely,

Linda T Oncale
