Did you miss out on the Winter Farmer's Market? Already running low on the delicious local options? Don't fret! On the Common Ground shelves this week:
- Local Carrots
- Local Salad Mix

- Bananas (tend to disappear by Tuesday!)
- Fresh Dill (recipes available on the fruit stand)

Common Ground ORGANIC Produce Boxes!
Many of our customers have already discovered the excitement of our weekly produce boxes. While we call them "boxes", we do encourage you to bring in your own re-usable bag. For those of you not familiar with the details, here is the "skinny":
- ORGANIC Produce is delivered FRESH on Friday mornings, you can stop by any time after 3pm to get your produce box. Saturday pick-up is also an option.
- We feature as many LOCAL choices as we can get our hands on!
- We offer 9 categories, each category has at LEAST three different types of items from which to choose.
- There are four fruit categories
- There are five vegetable categories
- You pick your favorite item from each category!
- Choices change each week
- Some items go fast! The sooner you pick up your box, the better the selection.
- Produce boxes give you first dibs on items you may not find regularly in the produce section such as baby crimini mushrooms, bell peppers, pineapple, blood oranges, etc
- Boxes are $24.00 each.
- Sign-up is required but you don't need to commit to a box every week. Sign-up only when you want a box!
Sign-up for produce boxes ends on Wednesday each week. We accept pre-payment with a credit card number over the phone (309-829-2621) or via cash, check or credit card in-person. Pre-payment is not required.

Life Long Love of Common Ground

Some of my earliest memories are from when I was four-years-old and
I'd walk over to Common Ground with my dad. I was allowed to get a tasty snack from the bulk bins or Barbara's Animal Crackers, then we'd walk back home and enjoy our treats as we sat on the porch swing. My parents tried to teach us kids about healthy choices. My sister and I went on a "teenage junk food rebellion" but I found my way back, eventually becoming vegan. Thankfully, Common Ground has many vegan items that made the transition that much more convenient.
This store has not only nourished my body but has also nurtured my interest in being environmentally friendly. Common Ground was the first place I was encouraged to bring my own shopping bags. I loved that I could refill my shampoo bottles and get eco-friendly cleaning products...all before it became "cool" to do so.
When I got a job at Common Ground, it felt like I was home. I've had a lot of retail jobs before but none that felt as important as helping this place thrive. It's comforting to see familiar faces and exciting when someone says it's their first time in the store. I enjoy helping them discover great natural products like our very own 11 Bean Soup Mix or my nostalgic favorite, Barbara's Animal Crackers. As far back as I can remember, Common Ground was a special place to visit and now it's a special place to work!
