Consistent with the BioDistrict's mission, we are continuing to develop a land use plan that is responsive to all constituents including neighborhoods, institutions, businesses and government. We have posted a preliminary “composite plan” synthesizing community comments and recommendations into one scheme. This is NOT a final plan, but rather another stage in our multi-step planning process. Your input and comments on this composite plan and the identified elements would be greatly appreciated. In Focus: Bioscience Workforce Development

On January 28th, the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the BioDistrict. This agreement will establish a biotech research and development concentration within the Education Department’s existing Career and Technical Education vocational curricula. This agreement is a key step to ensuring that local students will be prepared to take part in our region's growing bioscience sector.

On February 3rd, the City of New Orleans convened leaders from business, philanthropy, academia, medicine, and the local community to meet with Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan. The meeting's discussions centered around how local stakeholders could collaborate to ensure New Orleans' undeserved communities will benefit from the future economic development generated within the BioDistrict, and how HUD could best support those collaborations.
