VENDOR BOOTHS STILL AVAILABLE!
|
By: Jennifer Walker New Orleans Baby Fest
According to Hostess with the Mostess, a Sip and See is a casual type of baby shower that's held AFTER baby arrives instead of before. Friends and family are invited to drop by "open house style" within a certain time frame to enjoy light food & drinks (sip) and meet the baby (see).
I had my own Sip and See by default when my first son was three months old. My family baby shower took place on August 27, 2005 (as people were evacuating New Orleans just 2 days prior to Hurricane Katrina). It was a crazy day and probably not the best idea to continue with it, but we had no idea what was in store.
My friends baby shower was supposed to take place on September 9, 2005. Invitations were mailed, but the shower was postponed due to the aftermath of Katrina (flooding at the hostess' house and friends living everywhere but home.)
My son was born in October 2005 and my friends improvised and threw me a "Sip and See" in January. It was great to see everyone and so nice to introduce them to Jack. It was also the perfect fit for us, since we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl. Once he was born, I was excited to get some blue things at the Sip and See! |
