My five year old LOVES King Cakes, so I thought it would be fun to make our own. I looked online, but so many of the recipes seemed too complicated and I'm no baker. I was excited to come across this one made from canned cinnamon rolls and colored sugar.
The mini king cakes were super easy, fun and delicious! Click here for eHow.com's "Easy Mini Mardi Gras King Cakes in Minutes."
Here's how we made the colored sugar:
Place two tablespoons or so of sugar into each of three baggies
Add 2-3 drops of food coloring to each bag (yellow for gold, green for green and a mix of red and blue for purple)
Close baggie and shake to mix well.
Enjoy and Happy Mardi Gras!!!

YOUR PICKY EATER:
DO'S AND DON'TS
|
By: Dr. Adrianne Brennan - Family Behavioral Health & Selene Muller, LDN, RD - Westside Clinics and ABCsofMealtime.com

Picky eating is common for many children. Usually around two-years-old, and sometimes earlier, your child may refuse nearly all but a few foods. This can lead to considerable frustration and concern for the parents. You may wonder "Is my child getting enough nutrition" or "how long will this last?" Rest assured that having a picky eater is completely normal, but there are some things you can do to help him begin to explore new foods.
You are responsible for picking the foods your child should eat; however, your child will decide what and how much to eat. There are several things that you can do to encourage
healthy eating choices.
- Sitting around the table as a family will improve your child's chances of eating, especially when they see mom and dad eating a variety of foods.
- Be careful not to pressure or bribe your child to eat because without doubt a power struggle will occur, making the entire mealtime unpleasant for everyone.

PHOTOGRAPHY 101:
TIPS FOR BABY PICTURES
|
By: Vanessa Lyons, photographer vanessa rachel photography
Tip 1: For young babies keep it simple and short. If the baby starts to get fussy, take a break and resume after feeding or nap if needed. In the buff is pretty cute but be ready for any type of accidents by having some type of plastic liner underneath the blanket or item the baby is laying on.
Tip 2: For any session with babies and kids it is best to keep them in a fun and/or familiar environment so they are comfortable, smiling, relaxed and you can catch that perfect moment!Tip 3: When to schedule a professional photo session? For newborns try to plan at least a month to 6 weeks in advance of your delivery date. This will allow the photographer to check their schedule and also you will be able to cross another item from your "to do" list before baby arrives!
