Greetings!
It's taken me a while to get this newsletter out to you. Since the last newsletter, we have moved from the Fire to the Earth Element; from Summer into Late Summer. The Earth Element is the time of year we used to call 'Indian Summer', or the 'Dog Days of Summer". It's a time when we can sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labors. Not that all our work is done for the year, goodness no! It's a short span of time in which we are to reflect on our ACCOMPLISHMENTS thus far. Hmmm. Let's see. What were my New Years goals? How am I doing with them? Some of those seeds that were sown during the dark, contemplative hours of winter, have come to fruition, and others are still in process. I'm going to take some mental breaks throughout this Elemental time and pat myself on the back for what's been and continues to be. This is Earth time. Allow yourself to indulge a bit. Take some relaxing breaks, eat all the wonderful fruits and vegetables that are all in season. Enjoy a good summer read while lying on a blanket in the park.
It's time to relax after burning through so much energy during the Fire Element. It can leave us feeling as though we just want to sip some lemonade and hang out without having to go anywhere or do anything.
Relax. Enjoy. Revel in your accomplishments.

A Little Trick I Learned
I have many people in my life who have a difficult time swallowing capsules and pills. I conveyed this to a friend the other day who offered me this little trick.
Take an 8-oz glass of water and drink about 1/3 to 1/2 of it. Then take a tablet or capsule and put it in your mouth. Take a mouthful of water and swish it around a bit, then swallow. The tablet or capsule will go right down. Then take another swallow of water.
If you have difficulties with swallowing pills, give this trick a try. It really works!

Seasonal Vitality
As we move from the very Yang season of summer, the sun is setting much earlier than even just a month ago. It is time to start slowing down our pace a bit. Maybe going to bed a little earlier or rising a bit later.
We burn through a lot of energy during the Fire Element of Summer, and we don't want to burn all the way out before the restorative/ Yin time of Winter, the Water Element. If a person is too depleted by the time the winter months are here, they will experience symptoms of sadness, depression, lethargy, have an increased risk of catching the flu and colds, or experience respiratory problems such as bronchitis or pneumonia.
It is very important to get your seasonal Earth Acupuncture treatment as soon as possible. Autumn, the Metal Element is just around the corner, and it is vital to maintain good energy during this time.
In order to maintain proper balance at this time of year, it is wise to follow the seasons and what they have to offer us.
There is an abundance of fruit and vegetables available in the Farmers Markets around town. Take advantage of these and if you are of an omnivore persuasion, you may begin adding a bit of meat such as pork or chicken to your diet.
