Growing up in Los Angeles, Michelle Martin was immersed in the entertainment industry from a young age, spending her childhood years with her friends and their parents who were some of the top producers, actors and directors at the time. She was given a behind the scenes, realistic view of the business early on. When it came time to follow her acting dream, she moved to New York City, where she studied at some of the best acting schools in the world, all the while strengthening her skills as an actress doing theater. Michelle soon got a reputation as an extremely versatile actress, which led theater great Steven Berkoff to cast her in an original production. Back in L.A., she focused on auditioning for film and television and went to network several times, before heading back to New York again. In New York, with a lot of projects in the works, everything in her life was put to a sudden halt with a shocking breast cancer diagnosis. After a four year hiatus where she focused on treatment and healing, she returned to Los Angeles where she was invited by an executive at Fox to pitch a one hour t.v. drama. After 3 years developing a t.v. series (that is loosely based on her life story) about a young breast cancer survivor who is pursuing a creative career in Hollywood, she started focusing on acting again. With the show still in development, she began shooting several short films and gaining the attention of some of her dream directors. In addition, Michelle appeared in one of the most high profile national commercials of 2011. In addition to acting, Michelle is a writer and after her short play "The Last Straw" was produced in New York on Theater Row, she was invited to join the Dramatists Guild. She just completed her first book, "Steps to Success: Daily Declarations for the Actor", which is soon to be published.

Mark Mullen- Spring Work Shops!
It's spring and things are still kicking in the world of commercial, television, and motion picture casting - making it the perfect time to dive into a workout with one of the many workshops being offered at Mullen Casting this winter!
|
INSIDER SECRETS WORKSHOP: AUDITIONS & CALLBACKS | |
Adults 17 and over are invited to join us on SUN., MAY. 13 - 10AM TO 4PMwhen Casting Directors Mark Mullen and Shannon Ready share over 10 years of expertise about the auditioning process by revealing what goes on after the callback. This is a rare opportunity to take a walk inside the minds of the directors, producers, ad agency execs and clients who set the trends and call the shots that ultimately result in whether you're booking jobs or just going to a lot of auditions.
Mark will share stories of audition mishaps, close calls, missed opportunities and that rare moment when the planets align and the elusive role is booked. Actors will be put on camera reading actual commercial copy, television sides, and feature film scripts. The performances will then be viewed and analyzed in front of the class.
Q & A Session (3 pm to 4 pm): By the end of the workshop you will hopefully possess answers to every question you've ever had about the business in Florida and beyond. Prepare for straight-from-the-hip answers to the questions others tend to skirt.
Each participant will receive a flash drive of their performances from the workshop! This is a great way to continue reviewing and refining your skills long after the workshop has concluded.

Hosting projects include: Walmart, Selsun, American Express, Icy Hot, Kodak, Mitsubishi, Eyeglass World, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Panasonic, AT&T, Gold Bond, Allegra, and Chrysler.
Take advantage of this one-of-a-kind workshop focusing on all aspects of being a successful spokesperson/host. Participants will have the opportunity to work with a teleprompter, perfecting the necessary skills to land the job. Cold reading technique and working with script will also be covered, as well as tips on how to market yourself to producers and agents. Learn how to tell the story, find the drama and emotion in the words, and how to create your own unique voice.
Unlike the big SAG national cattle calls, hosting auditions typically involves a select group of hand-picked experienced talent. Take this opportunity to open a new door in your acting career! Last year alone, over a dozen hosting jobs came through the audition studios at Mullen Casting. Make sure 2012 finds you at the top of your agent's list when the next hosting job comes to town.
