A Note from Not Home Alone
A cat needing a home, new California license plate. pet food recallJune 23, 2010
Greetings!

Do you have room in your life for a new cat? A friend in Corona rescued a little girl kitty outside her house last week, but she cannot keep her. The cat has been to the vet for her vaccinations, and she is healthy - just underweight.  The vet thinks she is about a year old.  She only weighed 5 pounds when Jen took her in last Tuesday but seems to have already put on a little bit of weight.   We want to make sure she goes to a good home.

If you can give this little girl that good home - or if you  know someone who can - please contact me by phone (714-501-5330) or email (Christina@NotHomeAlonePLHS.com).

A New Pet-Friendly License Plate for California

Pre-orders are now being taken for California's new Spay & Neuter license plate, designed by actor/artist Pierce Brosnan and sponsored by the California Veterinary Medical Board. Proceeds from sales of the license plate will provide funding for free or low-cost spay and neuter surgeries throughout California-and the plates themselves are a great way to raise awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering.

In seven years, a female cat and her offspring can produce as many as 420,000 cats.  One dog and her offspring can produce as many as 67,000 dogs in the same time period. Shelters currently take in an estimated 8-10 million unwanted animals every year and are only able to find good homes for about half of those animals.

Not only will spaying and neutering help limit the number of pets who go into shelters each year, the procedures can help pets live longer, healthier lives. It makes pets less likely to mark territory and may also reduce aggressive tendencies, allow the pet to be more sociable, and reduce or eliminate certain cancers.
