Apalachicola Riverkeeper Newsletter & Call to Action
Ospreys on the Apalahicola River
Greetings!

This week, in addition to our weekly newsletter, we are asking you to take action on an issue of critical importance if you want to see ospreys on the Apalachicola River in the future or if you enjoy fishing in Apalachicola Bay, eat our oysters, swim or drink water.

Clean Water is essential to life

House Bill 2018, the Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act of 2011, passed out of the Committee on June 22, 2011.  This bill will have far-reaching implications on the ability of the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that we have clean water in our streams, rivers and bays.  States will have the final say on the cleanliness of our drinking water and the health of our waterways.  Please write, call or email your congressman today and tell them every citizen deserves clean water.  Contact your congressman hereContact your senator here.

WaterKeepers meet in Chicago
Your Riverkeeper, Dan Tonsmeire, is in Chicago at the 2011 WaterKeeper Alliance Convention.  "In spite of all the struggles around the country keeping our lakes, streams, rivers and wetlands clean and protected, we're finding inspiration in meeting with our fellow Waterkeepers," said Tonmeire.  The Apalachicola Riverkeeper is one of 197 Waterkeepers around the world.
