Dan Tonsmeire takes reins as executive director
 | | Dan Tonsmeire |
With Andy Smith moving on to South Carolina, Dan Tonsmeire is taking over as the executive director of Apalachicola Riverkeeper. Dan has been with the Riverkeeper since 2004. He brings his background as a hydrologist and former staffer with the Northwest Florida Water Management District to the Riverkeeper position. "I am honored that the board has asked me to step up to the position of executive director. I will try my best to live up to their confidence in me," said Dan. "The board, the staff and our volunteers work as a team to protect the Apalachicola River system. We couldn't do this work without the support of our donors, volunteers and the Greater Northwest Florida community."

Wishing Andy and Cina Smith our best
|

| | Andy Smith |
Apalachicola Bay and Riverkeeper wouldn't be what it is today without the tireless efforts of founding member Andy Smith. Attorney, geologist, professional river guide and budding musician, Andy is truly the Renaissance man.
We will be forever grateful to Andy, his gracious wife Cina for their gifts to our community. We look forward to Andy's continued involvement with Apalachicola Riverkeeper as our attorney and grantwriter.
Andy and Cina are relocating to their property in South Carolina to restore their home there and do a little farming. We look forward to seeing them around town and at events because they will always be a part of our community.
