IntroGreetings!

Tubeman SpringThe grass is green at Leavitt, our trees are in bloom, and birds are flying in-and-out of our warehouse. Spring is finally upon us!

It's almost time for Tube Man to locate the shorts, apply some oil, and find a spot to unband with my bundled family.  There is no telling where our bill of lading will take us this year!

Like many of our vendors and customers, Leavitt Tube Company will be closed on Monday, May 30th in honor of Memorial Day. Tube Man has surveyed some of our tube people and many are using the weekend to travel, relax, work on the yard, and spend time with family. The most common response is structured around outside summer activities. Many of our tube people enjoy golfing, boating, fishing, hiking, and going to ball games. Whatever you are planning, be safe and enjoy.

Don't forget to sign up for our Facebook page to hear all of the latest news and updates from Leavitt Tube and Tube Man. Thank you for supporting Leavitt Tube Company.

Glenn MitznerOur employee spotlight in this month's edition of the Pipeline is one of the nicest individuals you'll ever meet. Extremely caring and giving, he always thinks of others before himself. Now it's time to give that person recognition when he never asks for it in return - that tube person is Glenn Mitzner in I.T.

Glenn didn't start his career in I.T. - in fact, he didn't even start in the steel tube industry! His first "real" job was as a sales representative, selling water filtration equipment. In his spare time, he also worked for a photo studio, learning some neat tricks on how to use a camera like a professional.

While Glenn had fun selling filtration units and working with photos, steel was in his blood as his dad had been in the industry for over 35 years. While working at the studio, he found an ad in the local paper for Leavitt Tube in the scheduling department as a clerk. He came in to apply, was interviewed, and we offered him the job on the spot in June of 1976.

He worked for two years as a clerk, learning the ins and outs of scheduling the various mills. Through his hard work and determination, Glenn was promoted twice - once as a Scheduling Coordinator and later to Scheduling Supervisor where he was in charge of scheduling and setting up all the mills, slitting coils, and buying coils that will be formed into steel tubing.

Having mastered scheduling, Glenn was looking for a new challenge at Leavitt. That challenge came to him in 2003 when he joined the information technology department as a Network Administrator, which Glenn still does today. Glenn is in charge of maintaining all of the hardware and software at Leavitt Tube, as well all of the phone functions and back-ups that are necessary with software and hardware programs.

In Glenn's spare time, he enjoys being with his wife Kim and two kids and dogs, grilling all kinds of good food, and playing with his iPhone. Glenn is an avid bicyclist - he bikes approx 1,500 miles each year with the Beverly Cycling Club, which he has been a member of for many years. Glenn also volunteers with the South Suburban PADS organization (http://www.sspads.org/) and PAWS (http://www.pawstinleypark.org). Here's a fun fact about Glenn you that might not know - he was in the same class at Morgan Park High School with fellow tube person Ellen Goodrich!

Glenn is celebrating his 35th year at Leavitt Tube next month - please join us in congratulating him on this tremendous honor!

Leavitt Tube Company has made a pledge to operate our facilities in conformance with International Environment Standard ISO 14001 (2004).

Scrap steel, an unavoidable by-product of our manufacturing processes, is the single largest waste product generated by our tubing mills. As a result of equipment upgrades and investments, we now offer partial bundles of prime material to recover material that would otherwise be sent to a scrap yard.

When viewing floor stock on our website or speaking with one of our Tube People, you may see partial bundles available for sale. This is considered prime material available for immediate shipment in unique (non-stock) bundle configurations.  Leavitt's test reports will be included with your order.

Your support of the partial bundle program will help reduce scrap and assist with ISO 14001 objectives.

Please contact your sales representatives if you have additional questions about partial bundles available from stock.

We are conducting a casual survey to determine your needs for flash removal of A500 tubing.

Please contact your Leavitt sales representative if your company is currently purchasing or quoting A500 rounds, rectangles, or squares with flash removal.
