Company Spotlight
At Leavitt Tube, we're on a roll! Our highly anticipated W80 Mill quick-change upgrade is completed and rolling structural tubes & pipes with amazing efficiency and precision.
With our upgrade, the W80 Mill, which has a size range of 4" square through 10" square and wall thicknesses through .500", can offer faster changeover times, increased production per shift, more frequent rollings, less scrap, and superior quality.
We are very excited about our quality improvements. In a recent internal quality audit of 8" x 4" x .188" wall from the new mill, our QC inspection recorded perfectly matching corners on all sides. Additionally, recorded OD tolerances have been outstanding. We now have the ability to comfortably and consistently exceed ½ ASTM A500 tolerances for special applications. Please contact your sales representative to view a spreadsheet of actual inspection reports since our upgrade.
It is important that we offer a special thanks to our vendors and contractors who made our company vision a reality. We would like to thank Kusakabe, Chicago Roll, Sanyo Seiki, Illinois Crane, and Dubak Electrical Group for their dedication and persistence in completing this project.
We offer our most sincere thank you to our customers for supporting Leavitt Tube Company through the upgrade period. Leavitt Tube Company is dedicated to the production of quality steel tubing. Additional mill improvements, new sizes, and company upgrades will continue throughout this year for our smaller tubing mills. We'll keep you posted in future editions of The Leavitt Tube Pipeline. |
Office Redesign
Back in July's edition of the Pipeline, we let you know about our ongoing office redesign project. The first step was putting in new office furniture to help us become more efficient. Now, after several months and a lot of hard work, part two of the redesign is complete. Brand new energy efficient lights, Occupancy Sensors new ceiling and updated ductwork has made our office brighter, cleaner and much more energy efficient. Saving energy is one of the commitments we made when we adopted the ISO 14001 (2004) Certification.
With all re-design projects, we have pictures to share of the experience! Please click on the link below to check them out: Click Here |

"Snowmageddon"
|
For the 1st time in the 54 and a half years that the Leavitt Tube Company has been around, we closed for a day. "Snowmageddon" rolled into town Tuesday afternoon, February 1st, and hit the area hard. With wind gusts up to 65 mph, "Thunder-Snow", blowing and drifting, it proved to be an interesting night for anyone living in the city or surrounding areas. When the snow finally tapered off around noon on Wednesday the 2nd, the totals were in. At O'Hare Airport (where the official records are kept), we received 20.2" of snow, making this the third worst snowstorm in Chicago history. Leavitt Tube Company made the decision to close the Office and Plant on Tuesday night. "Our number one concern is the safety of our employees," said a spokesperson for Leavitt Tube. "It's our responsibility to make sure they are safe, so we shut down for a snow day and had fun shoveling ourselves out of it".
Many of us snapped photos and videos of the storm. If you would like to see them, please click on the link below to check them out: Click Hear |
