Leavitt South Plant Fall 2010

Greetings!

TubeMan Halloween

I'm ready for a Halloween full of  taffy apples, pumpkin pie, candy corn, and hot apple cider.  These are just a few seasonal treats the Tube Man enjoys during this wonderful fall season.  However, we all know Old Man Winter will soon unleash the perennial cocktail of cold, ice, and snow.  Fortunately, we have the holidays on the horizon to soften the blustery edge of winter.

We have plenty of treats planned this season. Fortunately, we'll take a pass on all of the tricks.  Our 80-mill upgrade is on schedule to begin after Thanksgiving weekend.  Please contact your Leavitt Tube sales representative if you need details concerning this project.

Employee Spotlight
 Mike Conces

Our employee spotlight for October could've also become a stand-up comedian if he didn't love the steel industry as much as he does. His sharp tongue and keen wit helps to keep the office, and his customers, in stitches throughout the day. That person is our very own Mike Conces!

Mr. & Mrs. Conces raised Mike in the lovely town of Munster, IN, along with his two brothers and sister. Steel has always been in Mike's blood. His dad worked for over 50 years in the industry, so its no wonder that when Mike finished college at Purdue University Calumet, he jumped at the opportunity to work in the steel industry with Leavitt. Here's a fun fact about Mike that you might not have known - he has a twin sister!

Mike started with Leavitt Tube in 1988 as an Inside Sales Representative handling many states in the Midwest. Back then, hits such as "Don't Worry Be Happy" and "Kokomo" were tearing up the charts. In 1996, his career guided him into the Inside Sales Manager Position, then, Marketing Manager and in 2002, he became one of our Outside Sales Representatives handling the eastern Midwest states.

Mike has been married to his wife Kim for 15 years and they have two kids. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with family, working in his yard, and watching the kids play multiple sports - including soccer and basketball. Mike and his family also enjoy vacationing at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina where he has relatives.

As I mentioned before, Mike's latest position was being an Outside Sales Representative. Well, the Pipeline has great news to report. In September, he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the eastern half of the United States. Please join us in congratulating him on his new role with the Leavitt Tube Company!
