Greetings!
Tube Man is excited to report progress with our previously announced office renovation and mill upgrade. It's certainly exciting to see all of the activity at our Chicago facility. Feel free to visit our office and see the changes for yourself!
Our remodeled office brings new workstations to the Leavitt staff. Besides looking great, the aesthetic improvements double as tools for Leavitt's Tube People to implement our "5 S" Methodology of sort, set, shine, standardize and sustain.
Join the Tube Man and plan on attending the Chicago Air & Water Show this weekend. This free event is the largest spectator event in the United States! We'll be there and if you would like more information then please visit www.chicagoairandwatershow.us

Nine times out of ten, our employee spotlight for the month of August is the first person in the office, getting here at 6:30am or earlier most days! And she's usually the last person to leave...except for Mondays and Tuesdays when she has her aerobics class! When she gets in, she kindly makes coffee for all of us here and always has a smile on her face while she's doing it. And every morning around 8:15, she comes down to visit with each and everyone of us, making sure to say good morning to all the employees who work in the office. That person is our very own Gail Murray!
Gail started at Leavitt Tube on December 13, 1976 in the Payroll Department and stayed there for the next four years. But Gail always wanted the opportunity to help people on a company-wide basis. In 1980, she got that chance - there was an opening in the Personnel Department for a Benefits Coordinator position. So, Gail applied and got the job, and has been with Personnel ever since. Her duties have grown since she started with the department in 1980. Not only does she administer the benefits to all Leavitt employees, but she also works with our insurance carriers, maintains our training programs, oversees the rules of the company handbook, and yes, once again, even payroll!
In her spare time, Gail likes spending time with her four children and going to various sporting events for her nine grand children. She also enjoys riding her bicycle around the south suburbs of Chicago and listening to 70s and 80s rock music - especially REO Speedwagon!
Gail will be celebrating her 34th year here at Leavitt Tube in December. Remember to congratulate her then!

Office
Remodel

Our Corporate Office has seen an upgrade of sorts too. During the last week of July, we had new desks and cubicles installed. Our new work areas are clean, efficient and much larger than before. This new space allows us to have more resources at our finger-tips which raises the service level we offer to our customers and vendors. To see more pictures of our redesign, please visit our Facebook page and view the " Office Redesign" Album. |
Saw Upgrades
In mid-July, we completed major improvements to the cut-off saw on our 80-mill, which produces our 4"x4"-188" to 10"x10"-500" material. These included additional carriage support for our saw and a new arm to keep the tube level with the milling saw. The upgrades have make our saw more efficient and help us to now achieve 16' material with a length tolerance of +/- .25" directly off-the-mill. |
