Summer is finally here and I'm really getting quenched and tempered by the heat!
While cooling down, I enjoy communicating with customers, vendors and co-workers on Facebook.
I just posted a summer portrait of myself on Facebook. Post your favorite summer photo on my Facebook page and I'll send you a Leavitt Tube Man hat!

"Skip Here" is a familiar phrase to many folks. If you've ever called in to schedule a truckload pick up with us, you've heard this. The face behind the voice is none other than Skip Cowan, our employee spotlight for July.
Skip started at Leavitt Tube in 1966 kind of by chance. He had been working as a cost accountant (and before that a butter delivery specialist) and was ready to move on. Many of his friends were working at Leavitt Tube at the time, so he stopped by in his three-piece suit and asked to talk to Personnel. They told him they weren't hiring at the time but would keep him in mind if something came up. As he walked back to his car, a Leavitt manager from the office spotted him, and offered him a job on the spot...because he was wearing his three-piece suit! This was on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving...and he started that Friday as a janitor and has had an incredible ride ever since.
Skip has done just about every job that we offer here at Leavitt - he's hauled steel, loaded trucks, slit steel, ran the mills, was a foreman, a shipping clerk and now he's our dispatcher, finding trucks for our valued customers and talking to numerous truck lines every day. Skip has been doing this for the past 10 years, getting in at 4:30 am to make sure all of our truck loads are taken care of.
In his spare time, Skip enjoys playing golf and spending time with his three granddaughters and one grandson...and soon to be two grandsons! On Friday, July 2nd, he found out that will now be a great-grand father. Skip has been married to his wife Bonnie for 44 years and they reside in Lowell, IN. He has two sons.
Mark your calendars - Skip will be celebrating his 44th year at Leavitt Tube this November...make sure to give him a call and congratulate him!
