Fall 2012
Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero Greetings!

Starting to feel a little fall in the air and the new television season
has started up.  The AES Conference is less than a month away.  Where did the summer go?   With the Holidays not too far behind, we are bracing for waves of sessions, which have already started breaking.  If you have projects you need to complete, please contact us early if you can.  Enjoy the autumn!

Duets II Album Cover NY State Post Production Tax Credit

NY State has increased the NY State Post Production tax credit to 30% for post production work done within the Metropolitan commuter region (including NY City and surrounding counties), and to 35% for post-production expenditures in locations elsewhere in the state.  This program is designed to give producers whose films were shot outside of the state a financial incentive to do post-production work in New York.  This program is separate from and in addition to the New York State Film Production tax credit program (which includes post production).  Eligible productions include feature films, episodic TV series, TV pilots and presentations and TV movies and miniseries.

Studio C 28pc Orchestral Set up Summer Sessions
Bruno Mars recorded songs from his upcoming album, Unorthodox Jukebox, in Studio A, B and W with producer Mark Ronson and engineer Alan O'Connell assisted by Bob Mallory and Tyler Hartman. You can see some of the footage from Avatar in their preview video.  The album will be released on December 11.

Tony Bennett was back recording vocals and videotaping the sessions for his Latin duets project, Viva Duets. Dae Bennett produced and engineered the sessions.  Tony Bennett sang duets with Thalia and Marc Anthony in Studio C and with Romeo Santos and Juan Luis Guerra in Studio A.  Dae was assisted by Aki Nishimura and Charlie Kramsky.

Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Hezekiah Walker recorded in Studio A with a 60 plus piece choir. Hezekiah Walker produced the sessions and Larry Sturn engineered assisted by Tim Marchiafava and Tyler Hartman.

Roy Hendrickson's Studio R

On the fourth floor penthouse that overlooks the NY City skyline sits Studio R, the room of seasoned engineer Roy Hendrickson. Equipped with a well tuned control room, a small booth, racks of vintage outboard gear and a few choice analog tape machines, Roy has been mixing all manners of musical styles, from jazz, folk, rock to electro pop. Artists he has recently worked with include Empire of the Sun, George Michael, Tom Wopat, and Mika. When he needs to he can jump from tracking in one of the Avatar rooms and then immediately start mixing in his room.  If you are in need of a quality mixer, look him up.
