Greetings!
Snow, snow, everywhere. It has been an unusually white January and February and it looks like we are not quite done with the snow yet. However, the sessions must go on and they have. From rock, jazz, film & TV and even a Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp, snow was not stopping us from doing what we do best.
For artists and bands, large or small, local or from out of town, demos or major projects, we want to be your community recording center. No project is too small. We have rooms that will match your budget. Call us up with your needs and we'll make it happen.

Attending NAMM 2011 The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) 2011 Show was held on January 13-16 in Anaheim, California. The event took up the entire convention center and was attended by over 90,000 people - and this show is not even open to the public! In addition to all the music instrument manufacturers and suppliers, almost one entire hall was dedicated to pro audio manufacturers and dealers as well.
Avatar's own Kirk Imamura attended the show for the first time and was even on a panel called "Commercial Studios Collaborating with Home-Based Producers" presented by Mix Magazine / moderated by Tom Kenny. The session was part of a series of panel discussions and classes offered for free in the H.O.T. (Hands-On-Training) Zone area of the Show.
"The show was overwhelming," said Kirk. "There is no doubt that there are more people than ever wanting to create and play music and a good portion of these people are also going to be recording it as well."
"As the user base expands, artists and bands needing help with recording and mixing at a professional, full-service studio should also increase, perhaps maybe not proportionally, but grow nevertheless." There is a role for a studio like ours to play and support the artists in their endeavors. We're here to help so don't be shy about contacting us. |
Recording with Glee
Some of the music for the popular Fox Television series Glee has been recorded and mixed in Studios B and G at Avatar Studios. You can see and listen to what was aired in the YouTube Showcase column to the right.
Since last November, Avatar has been the place where a string of hits have been coming from led by producer Tommy Faragher with engineers Robert Smith, Bryan Smith and Avatar's assistant engineer Charlie Kramsky. There are still more in the pipeline to air starting with the Valentine's Day episode.

Thwak! Attack
Tony Verderosa, a long time resident at the Avatar complex, who heads up Thwak! Music has been very busy of late.
If you watched the Super Bowl last Sunday, you may have caught the ad for the Xperia Play Android phone by Sony Ericsson - the one where the green Android mascot gets two human thumbs sewed onto its "hands" with eerie, atmospheric music in the background. The ad, created by McCann Worldgroup, featured original music by Thwak! Music recorded at Avatar Studios. Tony worked closely with Thwak's composer Mark Petrie and McCann's Executive Music Producer Mike Boris to deliver the haunting music. The ad was directed by Noam Murro. In case you missed it, you can watch the ad here.
Other projects Thwak! has worked on recently includes music for ads for Burger King, Bounty, Olay and Microsoft. Thwak! Music's own Anthony Roman provided music supervision services for the 13-part FX series Lights Out.
