PM for Social Good

Dear ,

We need your help! Do you know a university student who is studying a field related to project management at the undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral level? Do you know a teacher who would be interested in teaching their students project management skills? Perhaps you know a nonprofit employee who could use project management to make their organization more effective and efficient.

If you know anyone who fits into one of these categories, we encourage you to pass on this newsletter to them and tell them about our available scholarships.  Continue reading to learn more about our exciting scholarship opportunities for university students, educators and nonprofit employees.

Thank you for your support!

Thank You Letter from a 2011 Academic Scholarship Awardee:

"I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to be a recipient of the PMI North Carolina Chapter scholarship this year. My family has encountered financial challenges this year and while it has been especially hard on my parents, we can all have peace of mind that my studies will not be affected."

Feedback from Teacher and Nonprofit Employee Scholarship Awardees:

"The applications [of project management] to my work have been extraordinary. In fact this actually has caused me to focus on developing programs.  I currently am launching a student mentoring program, a college program, and indeed a Federal Reserve Team due to the training that I am receiving in the course. This program has illuminated my ability to create change in the school."

"All the courses were very informative, relevant and exciting. There were some processes that I have been doing in my current NGO work but never knew the right terms. I [also had a] very limited idea [about] the entire PM process and how to utilize those for a successful project.  I started applying little by little the things I learned like: Deliverable Setting--we were previously setting deliverables as tasks that should be accomplished. But I changed the entire process and the manner of preparing it when I learned that the two words are different...I [plan] to orient my staff on some PM processes so that we will now speak (and of course use) the same language."
