PM For Social Good

Greetings!

Volunteers are the heart and soul of most nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and often play a critical role in helping an organization accomplish its mission.

We at PMIEF are incredibly grateful for those volunteers who generously give of their time and talent to leverage project management for social good, so this issue is dedicated to them.

We truly could not accomplish all that we do without our faithful volunteers!

Why Volunteer?

People have different reasons and motivations for volunteering their time. Here is what two of our volunteers have to say about why they volunteer:

 Michael Martel

"The reason that I volunteer is that I find it to be tremendously rewarding to assist our students of project management in beginning their careers."
- Michael Martel, candidate evaluator, PMIEF Scholarships and Awards program

Rafael Lara"PMIEF's goal to enrich lives through knowledge of and education in Project Management Life Skills is aligned with my passion for volunteering and leading initiatives that provide opportunities to underserved young adults."

- Rafael Lara, volunteer member of the team that translated PM Skills for Life into Spanish

Do you volunteer? If so, do you have stories about your volunteer experiences related to leveraging project management for social good? Please share your story on our social media sites on Facebook and LinkedIn or email us at pmief@pmi.org.

Thank You to Our Volunteers!
PMIEF is incredibly fortunate to have dedicated, hard-working, and generous volunteers who help to leverage project management for social good. They play many roles including serving on the Board of Directors, evaluating scholarship and award candidates, creating and translating educational  resources for use internationally by teachers, students, and nonprofits/NGOs.

Some PMI Chapters and Communities of Practice (CoP) have volunteers who act as the liaison to PMIEF and who we include as part of the PMIEF family. And let's not forget about the PMI members who are volunteering in their communities to make a difference too.
