PM For Social Good

Greetings!

Last month, in Dublin, Ireland, representatives of PMIEF were warmly received by those attending the PMI Leadership Institute Meeting and the PMI Global Congress EMEA. Our training and informational sessions were overflowing with attendees as was our annual donor reception and our booth.  We reconnected with old friends and made many new friends.

We now have almost 80 PMIEF Liaisons who act as the communications link between PMIEF and their PMI community.  And our list of generous donors continues to grow as does the number of individuals downloading educational materials from our website.

We no longer feel like the best kept secret! Thank you for your interest and for your support in helping us leverage project management for social good.

The PMIEF Leadership Society Continues to Grow and recognizes donors who give a minimum gift of US$1,000.  This society, introduced in October 2010, now has members from all over the globe.  Here are the Leadership Society donors who were recognized at the PMIEF Donor Reception in Dublin, Ireland.

Using Project Management in Student Competitions

There are thousands of student competitions occurring around the globe - a majority of which require students to complete some type of project. It could be as simple as the competition at your local primary school's science fair or as formal as the Future Cities Competition, a US competition sponsored by the National Engineers' Week Foundation to encourage students to consider a career in engineering and to create their version of a future city.

Now imagine what would happen if the student learned and applied basic project management skills while competing!  It could make the experience much more enriching for the student and is a fun, child friendly way to learn.  Some PMI volunteers are already helping students learn project management.  Here's one example of how PMIEF, PMI volunteers, and one PMI Chapter made a difference in a local student competition.

You can help too!  Download PMIEF's PM Skills for Life and bring it to a local student competition in your community or at your local school.  If you don't know of any competitions in your area, here are two lists for your use:  US Student Competitions and International Student Competitions.
