PM For Social Good

Greetings!

By now, you probably know that PMIEF has a number of educational resources which you can download at no cost for non-commercial use.  In other words, feel free to download them but don't sell them to anyone else and don't charge for your time if you use them to train others (e.g. teachers, nonprofit/non-governmental organizations, youth, etc.) in project management.

But did you know that these resources are being used all over the world in lots of different ways?  And that PMIEF staff and board members frequently receive requests to translate them into other languages?

Last month, we promised to tell you more about how others are using PMIEF educational resources - so please see below to find out where they are being used around the globe and the creative ways in which PMI Members, teachers, nonprofits and others are using them.

We hope you find this information as fascinating as we do!

Regards,

Your friends at the PMI Educational Foundation

USE OF PMIEF RESOURCES GLOBALLY

Downloads Map

Click here for a full view and more details

Although the map paints a picture of where the materials are being used and the number of downloads in each area since the beginning of this year, it does not tell you how many individuals in each area are using them.  For instance, in Mexico more than 400 students use a Spanish version of the PM Skills for Life in a robotics competition.  In the Dominican Republic, dozens of youth and trainers used the PM Skills for Life as part of a leadership course.

At least 40% of those downloading the resources are not PMI members.  Here are comments by some of the individuals who downloaded them and how they are using them:

Careers in Project Management  - used to "research starting an initiative in my country" and "to make a presentation at my child's school on career day" and to "research  new career opportunities."

PM Skills for Life - used to "introduce PM to my children" and for use "with a robotics team" in a "Wisconsin high school" and to "train young people working on social projects in Chile" and for use "in my daughter's scholarship application process" and for use in "Boy Scout Eagle Projects" and to "teach high school students project management" and for a number of other after school clubs and youth civic programs.

PM Toolkit for Youth - used to "create a pilot project in a local school" and to "distribute to the new high school project management program" and to "develop summer workshops for children" and for "home schooling" and for the "Red Cross Next Generation Leaders program."

PM for Educators - used to "train K-12 educators and train K-12 Chief Technology Officers" and for "my husband's use as an elementary school principal...to introduce project management skills to his teachers" and for an "in-house faculty development session."

How Project Management Can Be Used In Your Nonprofit - used at "local registered Charity - Community Laundry Co-op" and for "NGO capacity building" and to introduce "project management to NGOs in Taiwan" and "for use at the nonprofit that I volunteer for" and for use "for mentoring student activities in not-for-profit organizations" and "for my use in my volunteer role as a board member at a nonprofit organization."

Project Management Methodology for Post Disaster Reconstruction - used "to help communities that were affected by floods" and "for a school project" and as "a tool for use by local emergency management coordinators" and for "disaster mitigation and readiness for earthquake risks" and for "post disaster management by water and sanitation specialist" and for "training my company" and for "personal knowledge...and development" and for use in "Sri Lanka" and "Japan" and "Chile" and "Sao Paulo" and many other areas around the world where disasters have occurred.

These are just a handful of examples. Please feel free to download any of these resources for use in your community and don't forget to tell us how you plan to use them.  They are no-cost to you for non-commercial use.
