"PAWS on Reading" Program Benefits From Fun Event
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PAWS FundraiserDr. Rachel Fornes, of Home At Last Adoption Agency, and Mara Uman Hixon recently hosted a fun afternoon of exclusive, one of a kind shopping, all for a great cause.  Over $2000 was raised for Crosswinds' "PAWS on Reading" program, in which youth learn improved reading and communication skills and, most importantly, relationship-building skills in a loving, safe environment, through interaction with Crosswinds' dogs.  Jasmine and Luke, certified therapy dogs, made a guest appearance at the event.  Ms. Hixon also donated autographed copies of her books, Turtle's Way: Loggy, Greeny & Leather, and Sea Turtles A-Z: Loggy, Greeny & Leather, for use in the reading program.  Many thanks to Dr. Fornes and Ms. Hixon and to all who participated in this wonderful fundraiser.  Left to right in photo, front: Jasmine, Rafi, Luke, and Izzy; rear: Jan Lokay, Dr. Rachel Fornes, and Mara Uman Hixon.
