FEATURED EVENT: LIGHTFAIR 2010 Recap

The OSRAM Opto Semiconductors team traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2010 LIGHTFAIR International conference and trade show. In addition to the regular booth and product demos, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors took a leadership position with the LIGHTFAIR virtual trade show website.
More than 20,000 lighting experts, architects and engineers gathered for LIGHTFAIR 2010, and OSRAM Opto Semiconductors kicked off the trade show with a booth tour for select industry media and continued with demonstrations of the latest LED and OLED technologies from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. The virtual trade show also included video interviews with several key customers, partners and industry journalists and customer spotlight pages.
The LIGHTFAIR 2010 website generated more than 4,000 visitors, more than 23,500 page views and more than 10,000 video views on the OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' YouTube channel.

FEATURED PRODUCT: OSLON SSL

The standard angle OSLON SSL, with an 80° angle, is a popular choice for lens type optics in applications such as narrow angle retrofits, spotlights, down lights, linear lights and beam shaping projects.
The OSLON SSL is the industry's smallest 1-watt power LED. It is only 3 mm x 3 mm in size, and has a luminous flux of 110 lm in cool white (6000 K) and 90 lm in warm white (4000 K). Employing the latest chip technology, the OSLON SSL delivers outstanding application efficiencies at all currents.

LED and Solid State Lighting standardization and regulations are of growing importance as the shift to LED lighting rapidly becomes a reality. Over the past few years, numerous organizations and working groups have developed standards and methods of measurement for critical factors such as LED system lifetime and performance.
This weekly video series from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' Dr. Jianzhong Jiao provides an overview of the organizational structure of the various groups working on SSL regulations and standards and an update of recent activities regarding the development and adoption of industry standards for LEDs. Key topics include Energy Star, technology advances, testing procedures, standards currently in place and a review of standards under development.
