 OSRAM Opto Semiconductors recently hosted the LED Light for you System Design Workshop North America on October 28 in San Diego. Nine partner companies and numerous attendees visited the workshop, which took place following the Intertech Pira 2010 LEDs Conference. Our virtual workshop page captured the highlights from the event, including video interviews, conversation articles, live photos and more at the LED Light For you System Design Workshop site.Lighting industry experts from several companies delivered feature presentations on a wide variety of LED related topics including system integration, thermal management, optics engineering, luminaire design, LED illumination systems and much more. Presenting companies included OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, OptoElectronix, Mentor Graphics Corp., Gaggione and Texas Instruments. Fujipoly, Showin, DK Thermal Solutions and Fraen also joined the workshop as exhibitors.The LED Light for you System Design Workshop was a great success, and OSRAM Opto Semiconductors would like to thank all of our attendees for joining and all of our partners for sharing their industry expertise and best practices. Featured Product: OSLON SSL 80 Color

 Small color light emitting diodes, such as the OSLON SSL 80, add color to any room or corner and provide fascinating lighting effects. The small powerful 1 W LED is now available in a range of colors: deep blue, true green, amber, red and hyper red as well as white tones, each offering top performance from a small package thanks to the latest chip technology.
Typical brightness is 480 mW (deep blue) and 92 lm (true green) at an operating current of 350 mA and 70 lm (amber), 55 lm (red) and 320 mW (hyper red) at an operating current of 400 mA. Like their white counterparts these powerful LEDs are very small (only 3 x 3 mm) and have a narrow beam angle of 80° which provides efficient injection into external optics, for example for spotlight applications. The same low thermal resistance of 7 K/W makes thermal management much easier.
At exhibitions, gigs and in studios, the new OSLON SSL 80 puts even the brightest stars in the shade with a blaze of color without disturbing the energy and thermal balance. Imaginative lighting scenarios can enliven exhibitions and enhance the drama on any stage. Shop lighting can also benefit from the focused and unobtrusive use of LEDs. A good lighting concept can help put merchandise in an attractive light with colored accents. And that's only a small proportion of the possible applications.

 Golden DRAGON Plus and OSLON SSL LEDs with their efficiency of 37% are among the most efficient light sources on the market in the deep red range (660 nm wavelength). The free online Tools section has launched on the OSRAM Opto Semiconductors LED Light site. This free new resource provides powerful new tools, downloads and technical tools for LED solutions providers and engineers.
Several resources, including video slidecasts and product highlights, are open to the public. Registration is free and registered users will have access to a multitude of helpful resources including downloadable printed circuit board design files, an optic selector tool that helps users find lens and optics solutions from OSRAM partners and in-depth reference designs.
