Westchester Lagoon Disc Golf Course Closure
If you know what I'm talking about when I say frolf, then you have likely played disc golf at Westchester Lagoon. Last month Parks & Recreation announced the summer closure of the course to help rehabilitate vegetation. The Westchester course was certainly popular, but is not the only place to play. There are several other locations around the municipality for people to play: Kincaid Park (18 holes); Hanshew Middle School (9); Service High School (9); Russian Jack Springs Park (9); Girdwood Disc Golf Course (18); Schroeder Park (9); Gruening Middle School (9); Peters Creek Disc Golf Course (18); and Eagle River High School (9).
There will be one more chance for the public to weigh-in on this issue, the Parks & Recreation Commission is holding a meeting on May 10th to discuss closure of the disc golf course under Old Business agenda item. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM at the Spenard Recreation Center (2020 West 48th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99517).

Internships at the Mayor's Office
I am looking for college students with communication skills and dedication, who are willing to learn and be involved in government functions. This is a summer internship program that will introduce students to the many aspects of city government while working in the Mayor's Office. Interns will work directly with my Executive Staff and me. Duties will include attending public events, learning computer software programs to help with data entry, addressing constituents' requests or comments on a daily basis at front desk or at public events or gatherings. High school students will also be considered.
If interested please call 343-7100 or email Larry Baker (BakerL@muni.org) or find for more information here.
