New Snow Removal Report Launched
It just keeps snowing in Anchorage and there is more in the forecast. To keep you informed on how we are dealing with all this snow, we have launched an online Snow Removal Report. It is updated every afternoon, with information on what streets were plowed overnight, and what is being worked on that day. Read more about what information is in the report here.
Please continue to be patient, crews are working 24/7 and are doing a great job. We have had 119.6 inches of snow so far this winter; normally at this point we have 50 inches. MOA has spent over $3 million more than last winter on snow removal.
We are only 13.2 inches away from hitting the record for the all time snowiest winter on record. Do you think we will hit it this year? Tell me on my Facebook page.

Don't Let Winter Stop You from Enjoying Our Parks
We live in a winter city, but sometimes we forget about the great outdoor activities available to us in the city. Snow on the ground doesn't stop our Parks and Recreation Department from maintaining
our facilities and planning great family friendly programs. Skiing, skating and sledding are the obvious ones. There are also other ways to utilize Anchorage's recreation facilities in the winter. Pools are open year round, and health and fitness classes are offered at community centers around town. One of the longest running and best winter Parks and Rec winter activities is Family Skate on Saturday's at Westchester Lagoon. Read more here...

Fur Rondy Gives Anchorage a Reason to Celebrate
Anchorage's Fur Rondy was recently named the #1 winter carnival in the world by National Geographic. Festivities began last weekend but continue through this Sunday. If you missed Snow Shoe Softball last weekend, don't worry, there are plenty of fun things to do this weekend. You can Run with the Reindeer on Saturday or watch the Youth Pond Hockey Tournament at Cuddy Park. Find out about all the events at furrondy.net.
Many City Departments are heavily involved in making Fur Rondy a success each year, from AFD and APD to Street Maintenance and Traffic, it takes a team to get the city ready for the world's #1 winter carnival. MOA employees will be around the events, and doing prep work behind the scenes.
Read more about the city's involvement in Fur Rondy and this weekend's events here.
