Greetings!
Spring is upon us in the Northern Hemisphere. Flowers are starting to bloom in my garden. A fresh feeling of "newness" greets us through the robin's call and the first roar of the lawn mower engine welcomes new growth.
At Global NP Solutions, we are celebrating spring with new services! If you like our newsletter, we can produce and publish 's innovation newsletter, too! For more information click h ere or call us at 281-280-8717.
Spring is also a time to refresh your innovation portfolio. In this issue of The Village, we'll help you set your criteria to choose a Portfolio Management (PM) tool.
And be sure to refresh your knowledge of NPD Best Practices. Join us for a new product development or portfolio management course, or take an on-line course. |

Reminiscing
Just the other day, I was re-living my good ole' college days. For at least a couple of semesters, I worked three jobs. I was lucky that one job paid the bills (working at a department store), one job was fun and prepared me for the future (tutoring and training other tutors), and the third was very rewarding (working as a lab assistant).
Working as a "lab rat" involved helping a wheelchair-bound graduate student to conduct experiments on the water content of different substances. We "baked" different compounds in a special oven with specifically regulated temperatures and compared the before/after weights.
Since the graduate work was funded by Ore-Ida, I learned that potatoes are about 80% water - not unusual for a starchy, root vegetable.
Join me on a walk down memory lane and learn how frozen french fries are made. (Click on the image of at the right to see a 6-minute video on the process for frozen french fries.) Don't forget the ketchup!

Choosing a Portfolio Management Tool | |
Software is Not a Cure-All
One of the most frequent questions we hear from New Product Development (NPD) practitioners is "What software should I use?" Like many questions in innovation, the answer is "It depends."
While we will not recommend specific vendors or software packages in this paper, we will outline general concerns that each firm should consider as they investigate new tools to manage their NPD Processes.
Read more about Choosing a PM Tool. Innovation Members can download a free questionnaire to help screen PM Tools.
