How do they make Candy Corn?
October finds many in North America and Europe celebrating Halloween on October 31st. Kids, dressed as ghosts, pirates and princesses will go "trick-or-treating" in their neighborhoods and collect candies and toys. I fondly remember trick-or-treating with my best friend Karen, getting candy apples and popcorn balls from elderly neighbors. What fun memories!
One of the most popular treats at Halloween is Candy Corn. First created in the 1880s, did you know that over 20 Million Pounds of Candy Corn is sold every year in the United States and Canada?

Three Simple Methods | |
for New Product Sales Forecasting
Despite all the fun "work" expended to develop a new product, we only should be working on products that will deliver financial rewards to the company. Certainly, there are products that "go viral" as illustrated by the re-discovery of Hush Puppy shoes in Malcolm Gladwell's classic "The Tipping Point." But, most of us need to provide specific metrics to our management in order to demonstrate that the new product idea will actually generate a profit.
Sales forecasts are tricky even for mature products in existing categories. In this issue, we offer some simple methods to estimate new product sales at earlier stages in the development process.
