Celebrating Our Good News
Greetings!
While our local and regional economy are still not back at pre-recession levels, we are beginning to see signs that businesses are recovering. This is evident both in the level of construction activity and with the number of companies exploring potential expansion projects.
Construction activity in Piqua continues to increase as we enter the second half of 2011. In fact, year-to-date construction activity of $22.9 million now exceeds the total activity for the past four years combined. Additionally, several local manufacturers have begun rehiring workers to meet increasing sales and are close to reaching pre-recession numbers.
As importantly, prospect activity is also on the rise. Inquiries from site selection consultants, regional developers, and our local businesses indicate companies are once again looking at new investments in equipment, facilities and personnel.
Certainly, we have a lot of work yet to do to emerge from the Great Recession; however, we believe it is important to take time to celebrate the positive developments and good news happening in our community. So, here's to good news in 2011!
Best regards,
Bill Murphy Executive Director |
